Winning in AB depends on our team's being able to hold on to the flags that it caps. If you are asked to defend a flag, your main job is to call for help and then fight to keep the flag until help arrives.
Make a specific call for help. "4 inc LM" tells your team what's going on ... "help LM" doesn't.
If you just want to inform them, say something like "inc mine we can handle it".
If you die and rez at the same node, rush right back to the flag. Keeping the flag up is your first priority.
Guard your healers. You are trying to delay the flag cap until help arrives. Keeping your healers up is more important than going for kills.
Defending the Flag, Part 2
Everyone, absolutely everyone, who is defending a flag needs to keep an eye on it. Nothing is more annoying than to be engaged in a long fight over a flag and suddenly see it go up in flames because an enemy tapped it while no one was looking.
Fight near the flag ... the enemy will try to kite you away; don't let them. If an enemy pulls back, let them go ... the kill is less important than the flag.
Watch the flag. If you die, you rez right there ... as long as you own the flag. So watch the flag even if it reduces your ability to fight.
Ranged use AOE. Every now and then drop and AOE right on top of the flag. This reminds your team to keep watch, and it pushes the enemy back.
Melee use multiple-hit. If there is a group of enemy around the flag, and if you have a strike that hits more than one opponent at a time, use it. It only takes one hit to interrupt a flag tap.
Supporting a Flag
When the call for help comes, teammates need to provide immediate support.
Know if you're on support duty. If you're not sure ... assume that you are.
Don't stop to fight on the way. If you get attacked, cc the enemy and move on.
Go directly to the flag. Hit any enemy who are trying to cap the flag. Keeping the flag is more important than scoring a kill.
When to Fight in the Road
IF you control 3 flags, and the other team WANTS to fight in the road, then it is to your advantage to keep them there. As long as you have more flags than they do, you will win.
If you see a group of enemy, attack them. Many groups can't resist this and will dismount and fight you. If you are one on three, you die ... but you delay them and keep them out of the fight.
Kite the fight away from your flag. Give ground slowly, backing out until your flag is free of fighters. You want to keep an eye on it in case you have to defend it, but if the enemy will chase you, good.
The "Y" between the Farm and the BS, the area just across the bridge from the Stables near the road to the mine ... these are good places to start a fight.
