You will hear this over and over again until you are sick of it. Too bad.
AB is about scoring points by capping flags. If you are fighting in the road you are wasting your time. Worse, you are wasting your teammates' time. A good way to get kicked off a PRO BG team is to annoy your leaders by wasting their time.
If you need experience or kills, go to WG or AV. The kills you get in AB are minor compared to the bigger battlegrounds.
When you rez, go out with the group. If you rez first, wait around until two or three more rez. If you move in groups, you won't die as often, and you won't get pulled into "road fights".
If your group meets an enemy group in the road, don't stop to fight. If they try to, just CC them and move on.
Watch the Flag
In the middle of a big fight, you may find that everyone is busy and you have a chance to cap the flag. Getting the flag is always your first objective.
Cap and Guard
When you cap a flag, it takes 60 seconds for it turn over to your color. During this time it gives you no points. Unless you have specific instructions not to, guard the flag at least until it turns your color
Before it turns your color, the enemy can cap it right back with no waiting. This means that all the effort of your earlier cap is lost.
Enemies will often returned to a capped flag to try to regain it. Waiting is a good way to find a fight.
Watch the grave yard. Enemies may rez before the flag turns gray and wait around for everyone to leave. This is especially true of stealthy enemies.
However, if your team is doing a "rolling zerg" and you are on the flag capping team, then your leader may want you to keep moving. Know what you are supposed to be doing.
